It has a slight lean towards those travelling by car, but the vast majority of the information is just as relevant and useful for campers as well.

eBook #2 – A Local’s Guide to Camping and Caravanning Tasmania

Camping your way around Tasmania is such a unique experience, and whether you’re a first-timer or a seasoned pro, this eBook is the ideal place to start planning your holiday of a lifetime!

There is plenty of free information out there on the internet to help you plan your road trip, but at the same time it can take FOREVER finding the dozens of articles that matter most for creating your itinerary, while weeding out the ‘influencers’ who have barely set foot on the island yet claim to be ‘experts’.

This eBook eliminates that wasted time, putting all the essential advice, tips and information you need, right at your fingertips – more than 130 pages of trusted advice from a local road trip expert answering questions like:

  • Can you ‘wing it’? Or do you need to book ahead?
  • Where are the best low-cost and free camps in Tasmania?
  • Which roads to avoid in Tasmania?
  • How to plan a 3+ months itinerary?
  • How much to budget for a Tassie camping holiday?
  • When should you book the Spirit of Tasmania ferry? And how much will it cost?
  • Which is the best company for renting a campervan or motorhome?
  • Camping with pets – where can you stay?
  • What about pet-friendly tours and attractions?
  • And much, much more…!

This eBook is more of a ‘bottom-up’ approach to planning your holiday, and it is focused 100% on campers and caravanners, and those travelling with their pets.

PLUS Holiday Planner Spreadsheet

My Holiday Planner Spreadsheet is the perfect partner to both eBooks, helping you record your travel plans and manage your holiday budget – whether that is for Tasmania or anywhere else in the world!

  • Record your important road trip information in one place
  • Templates for planning your road trip itinerary details (accommodation, meal options, activities, tours and more)
  • Helps you brainstorm and finalise your list of ‘things to see and do’
  • Cost template for calculating and recording your holiday budget
  • Reusable for future holidays – no matter where you want to go in Australia or around the world!

Road tripper feedback

It isn’t just my perspective either.

Building on my experiences, I have worked with beginner and experienced Tassie road trippers to test this eBook and get their advice on the best campsites and other tips for having a relaxing time on the island. In fact, there are whole sections of this eBook that use their tips and travel stories to help you with itinerary planning and other parts of the planning process!

Don’t waste your money

eBooks are becoming more and more popular these days, and I have noticed a few Tassie options popping up for sale on Facebook and across various websites.

We all love to promote Tasmania, but there are a couple of questions you need to ask to ensure you aren’t wasting your money and to help you plan the best holiday in Tasmania.

How up-to-date is the eBook?

We get a lot of backpackers and caravanners visiting Tasmania, and many of them fund their travels by writing about their travels.

There is absolutely nothing wrong with this at all (I’ve done it myself) but one of the things about Tasmania is that the tourism industry is rapidly evolving, and while their information may have been correct when they visited, there’s a good chance they could have visited five years ago, and a lot would have changed since then. Even some of the big travel companies like Lonely Planet can only afford to issue occasional updates.

Since 2020, these two eBooks have received major updates at least every six months, and even a few minor ones in between as new information comes to light (eg. the new Spirit of Tasmania ferries arriving in 2026-27).

Still got months or years before you plan on visiting Tasmania?

No worries! Make your purchase now so you can start your planning, and get in touch closer to your holiday and I’ll send you an updated version at no cost.

Is the eBook written by a local?

Together with my wife I have called Tasmania home for more than 20 years, and we are always road tripping our way up, down, and around our own backyard.

Of course, there are many big attractions, sights, and tours that everyone knows about, but there are plenty of little tips and tricks that only a local can discover – especially when it comes to planning the ideal road trip route, choosing the best rental company, or finding those hidden, out of the way camp sites that can make such a difference to your adventures.

It is this unique Tassie perspective that I love sharing with you in my eBooks.

I am always seeking feedback!

If you are using my eBooks to plan your holiday and you feel that I am not answering your questions – please let me know! Not only will I provide you with an immediate response, but I will also incorporate that information into the next version of the eBook so everyone else can benefit.

Similarly, if you finish your travels and think there is an aspect of my eBook that can be improved for other travellers, let me know by email at andrew@lapoftasmania.com.au

I am always looking for new ways of helping visitors to plan and enjoy their Tassie holiday, and I look forward to incorporating your feedback into future versions of my eBooks.

Print your own paper copy!

I would love to provide a hardcopy version of my eBook, however the publishing process is very costly and I want to ensure my eBook is as affordable as possible for every single visitor to Tasmania.

One fantastic and cost-effective solution is to save your eBook to a USB stick and to take it to Officeworks or similar office supply store (email and cloud-printing options are also available). There, you can arrange for a copy to be printed and you can also get it spiral-bound with a protective cover front and back.

That way you have your own paper copy to keep in the car, and where you can make your own travel notes!

14-day money back guarantee

I have received nothing but fantastic feedback from thousands of happy travellers all around the world, but if that’s not you then don’t stress – just get in touch within 14 days at andrew@lapoftasmania.com.au and I’ll provide a full refund of the purchase price.

Thank you for your support, and best wishes for all your Tassie road trip planning!

Andrew.
