There are so many incredibly beautiful locations in Tasmania that are at the top of every itinerary – but have you ever wondered where the locals go to switch off, relax, and reconnect with nature?
For many of us – myself included – it is the orchards, wineries, and markets of the Huon Valley, and the solitude, hidden coves, and quiet walking trails of the Far South where we escape the hustle and bustle.
There is a sense of understated authenticity here that I am yet to discover anywhere else in Tasmania, and Walton House would have to be one of Tasmania’s most memorable hideaways from which to explore this fantastic part of the world.
You’d be hard pressed to find a better location. The shady banks and tranquil waters of the Huon River are just a short walk away, and there are plenty of day-trip options for nature lovers and foodies alike to destinations such as Hastings Caves, Tahune Airwalk, Home Hill Winery, folksy Cygnet, and the golden sands of Cockle Creek.
Getting your day started is a highlight in itself. Sarah provides all her guests with a delicious complimentary breakfast pack for two, including yoghurt and the tastiest apple juice you’ll ever try, sourced from the iconic Huon Valley orchards. A cheeky slice of Tassie fudge is a moreish little extra I’m sure you’ll enjoy immensely, and if you’re staying a couple of nights or longer you can easily purchase additional packs.
I love the thoughtful attention that Sarah has put into the luxuriously appointed rooms at Walton House, and after a full day of sightseeing I know you will too!
Light-filled and spacious, with gorgeous views to the courtyard and across the valley, you just need to read a few of the many glowing guest reviews to appreciate the comfortable elegance that awaits.
” Such a beautiful property and exquisite interior design. Everything was gorgeous and so comfortable, and the added touches like the welcome pack and the equipped kitchen were impeccable. The room is large and the bathroom is gorgeous with a bath! The living area is stunning and the fire was always stoked keeping everything so cosy and gorgeous. Sarah was an impeccable host and was very helpful and accommodating. Can’t wait to come back! “

Both suites have been recently refurbished, and whether it is the courtyard access and large walk-in shower of the Valley Suite, or the deep bath for two of the Hillview Suite, they are unsurpassed for a boutique, romantic escape.
No doubt you’ll be indulging in the local produce, but you’ll also be pleased to hear that kitchenettes are available in both suites for self-catering.
The inclusions at Walton House are extensive, ensuring comfort and convenience. A communal lounge for unwinding at the end of the day, a well-stocked library, wood fireplace and cosy heating throughout, a BBQ for enjoying the balmy summer evenings, and so much more.
Walton House shines brightly in the heart of the Huon Valley, and together with all the local touring and travel advice provided by your warm and welcoming host Sarah, I know you will love it just as much as me.
