Everyone! All you need is a sense of adventure to fall in love with the Lap of Tasmania.

Whether its a slowly meandering journey of exploration, a luxury indulgence with no expense spared, or a road trip full of excitement and outdoor adventures…the Lap of Tasmania has something for your style of travel.

We’ve had fantastic feedback from all walks of life – grey nomads in search of tranquility, executives seeking escape from the business hustle, and mums and dads wanting to inspire a sense of adventure in their children

No matter who you are or where you come from, memories of your Lap of Tasmania will last a lifetime.

It’s very simple 😊

1. We give you all the information you need, right here, to plan your ultimate Tasmanian road trip

2. Using our recommendations you book your accommodation and car or campervan (if you need one)

3. You enjoy the holiday of a lifetime – following the route and ticking off the ‘Big 12’ at your own pace!

Option 1

Taking your own car or campervan is a fantastic option. It is very easy to make your booking on the Spirit of Tasmania ferry, there are no luggage restrictions, and it means you can experience the road trip in a vehicle that you know and love.

Option 2

When it comes to road trips we know that some travellers are worried about the size or reliability of their family car. Many also like to camp their way around Tasmania in a campervan, or to splash out and soak up Tasmania’s sweeping curves in a sports car.

If that sounds like you, we suggest the convenience of booking a car or hiring a campervan and picking it up from the airport on arrival.

Using our local experience, we’ve identified the ideal route that circles the entire island of Tasmania.

The balance is just right – long enough that you can experience Tasmania’s ‘Big 12’, and short enough to fit your busy lifestyle. It’s completely up to you!

A 14-day itinerary is the perfect amount of time, but even 7 days is enough time to complete the Lap of Tasmania and experience all the major sights such as Cradle Mountain, the Bay of Fires, Wineglass Bay and Port Arthur.

And you know what? Even if you only have a weekend you can still do a mini-road trip and explore one of the 9 regions along the route.

It’s that easy!

We hope you find our articles useful in planning your Tasmanian road trip itinerary. Places to visit, accommodation recommendations, driving essentials, road trip planning tips – we cover it all.

But we also know how reassuring it can be to speak with a local.

That’s why we’ve created a Lap of Tasmania Facebook group!

In our friendly and supportive community you can ask any question at all. Our members love to provide advice, and they’ll be sure to help you plan your perfect Tasmanian road trip!
